Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a bunch of questions we get asked a lot. Hopefully these will help you and allow Alan to address himself to fresh queries that haven't come up before. As much as he loves helping people, there is no point In Alan saying the same things over and over. So if you have a query - check out this FAQ section first because the chances are that your question has already been asked and answered here.
Can I use an existing Sky dish that is on my roof? Yes you can, in most cases you plug it right in and away you go.
There are all sorts of satellite decoders available, how do I choose the right one for me? A lot depends on your TV and what functionality you require, we can advise you on the best options.
Will I be able to add new channels to my decoder as they become available? Yes you can. Once new channels become available you can either do a re-scan or they will simply appear where the current reserved channels are. Details on re-scans will be available for most models on our website.
What warranty and service do you offer on your products? In the event of a problem you can return the unit to us and we will endeavour to turn it around and back to you within 24 hours of receiving it. Some problems can be fixed by doing a simple re-boot or re-scan of the decoder.
If I have Sky digital, can I use one of these FreeView decoders at the same time? Yes we have a number of clients who run Sky TV in one room and have our FreeView decoders in another, or in the same room giving them more options for viewing and recording etc.
Do the FreeView decoders come with a remote control, manual and leads? All decoders come with a remote control, manual and AV leads to connect to your TV. If you have a very old TV with no AV input there is an additional lead required. Please advise us at the time of order if this is required.
Do these decoders have high definition? HDTV is now available from terrestrial decoders; they differ from satellite units and are available from $99. There are a number of cheap decoders available on Trade Me. Beware the cheap products do not deliver... Please send us an email for more details. I am happy to help.
